Performance Opportunities
Recitals:
Studio Recital - Each June the studio holds a recital for parents and friends. We take this time to celebrate the music students have been studying and to enjoy music, conversation, and refreshments together. Each student memorizes and performs two pieces of music.
The North Shore Piano Teachers Guild (NSPTG) holds three recitals each year for students K-12. Students are invited by their teacher to perform in one or more of these recitals. Each student memorizes and plays one performance piece.
Musical Achievement Evaluation:
The Massachusetts Music Teachers Association (MMTA) holds noncompetitive evaluations each year for students who would like to participate. Students play two pieces for an adjudicator who then works with the student in a master class format.
parties
Halloween Party: This is the highlight event of the year for many of my young students. Each October, a few NSPTG teachers (including myself) organize a Halloween party for students K-6. Our students memorize (not mandatory) a Halloween piece and come in costume to our decorated Halloween hall. They perform in any order they like, and then enjoy games and refreshments. Each student leaves with a "goodie" bag and a big smile!
Pizza Party: Each January, we offer a "Theme/Pizza Party" for students in grades 6 -8. Last year's theme was a "Beach Party". Students played an appropriate "fun" theme piece and then enjoyed refreshments while listening to their favorite pop tunes.
